Stevens County board approves procurement, contract and policy changes including $1.65/gal dust-control award

Auditor/Treasurer Stephanie Buss proposed increasing the county capital asset capitalization threshold from $5,000 to $10,000 to align accounting practice and policy; the board approved the change in a unanimous vote after a motion by Commissioner Kopitzke and a second by Commissioner Wohlers.
Human Services Director Liberty Sleiter presented a contract with the Levit Immersion Center for Spanish-language lessons for county staff; Commissioner Ennen moved to approve the contract and Commissioner Kopitzke seconded the motion, which the board approved unanimously.
Planning and Zoning Director Bill Kleindl presented the county's 2025 Feedlot Report; the board approved the report on a motion by Commissioner Staples.
County Engineer Todd Larson recommended awarding the county's 2026 dust control contract to Hennen Lawncare of Wendell at a rate of $1.65 per gallon applied; Commissioner Ennen moved to award the contract, Commissioner Staples seconded and the board voted aye. Larson also requested and the board approved advertising for bids on SAP 075-601-036, a sealcoat project on CSAH 1.
County Administrator Rebecca Young presented a Central Square intergovernmental agreement to make Stevens County the fiscal host for entry into the Central Square main agreement with Pope, Grant and Wilkin counties; the board approved the intergovernmental agreements unanimously.
