By motion on June 18 the Byram Township Council approved its consent agenda, enacting a package of routine but substantive resolutions including liquor license renewals, grant appropriations and capital purchase authorizations.
Items approved included renewals of multiple plenary retail consumption and municipal liquor licenses (Mosaico Tavern LLC; Plan Two LLC; Pink Elephant of Cranberry Lake trading as Golden Nugget Saloon; BBG Restaurant LLC trading as Alibi Beach Bar). The consent agenda also authorized permitting residents to pay property taxes and sewer charges by credit card and authorized purchase of an electronic message board under the Somerset County Cooperative Pricing System for 2024.
Several Chapter 159 appropriations were included: a $65,000 Local Recreation Improvement Grant (LRIG) for tennis court reconstruction, a Completely Inclusive Playground grant appropriation of $464,120 (with the township’s 25% share cited elsewhere in the meeting), and an American Rescue Plan appropriation of $35,792.76. The consent list also authorized purchases for sewer utility operations (two sewer pumps not to exceed $25,830) and authorized purchase orders for playground equipment and rubber surfacing for CO Johnson Park with not-to-exceed figures of $312,462.76 and $187,450.00 respectively.
Council approved the consent agenda by motion with all members recorded as voting yes. Items were enacted without separate discussion unless removed from the consent list.
Next steps: departments will proceed with procurement and execution per the approved resolutions; council will publish resolutions per municipal practice.
