Fitchburg Council on Aging adds permanent public-comment period, sets election for May 14

At its April 9 meeting, the Fitchburg Council on Aging added a standing Public Comment section to future agendas and closed nominations for FY27 officers ahead of an election scheduled for May 14.
Todd Goodwin, chair of the COA, said the public comment slot will be a permanent agenda item. Under the new practice, each person who addresses the board will be given two minutes and must state their full name, street address and town of residence. Goodwin characterized public comment as a common municipal practice intended to give residents a chance to speak to the board.
On nominations, Goodwin called a final round of submissions; with no additional nominations, Joe Byrne moved and George Bourque seconded to close nominations. Members were asked to attend the COA meeting on Thursday, May 14 at 1:00 p.m. for the FY27 officer election.
The COA adjourned at 1:33 p.m. after Joe Byrne moved and Anne Fitch seconded the motion to adjourn; the vote was unanimous.
