Road and Bridge lays out chip-seal, cinder-spreading and material-screening plans; Lincoln County to begin reciprocal sanding

Road and Bridge Supervisor Kim Spencer reported detailed roadwork plans and inter-county cooperation during the Jan. 26, 2015 Caribou County commissioners meeting.
Spencer said Lincoln County commissioners will begin sanding Caribou County roads under a reciprocal agreement; the arrangement likely means Caribou County may need to sand Lincoln County roads in return. Spencer asked the board to note the upcoming operational change so crews can coordinate schedules.
On immediate works, Road & Bridge planned to start work on Cheirrett Road the following day: crews will spread about 6 inches of cinders and then top the surface with gravel to address localized mud. Spencer also recommended lining the feeder on the crusher with Teflon to reduce gravel sticking; he said he would check pricing and report back on the best vendor.
Project priorities discussed included chipping Wayan Loop and Stateline Road, crack-sealing Chesterfield Road to Crump corner, additional chip-seal on Reservoir Road this year, and similar crack-seal on Rockyford Road. Spencer noted if Wayan Loop or Stateline Road are not chipping candidates this season, the department will proceed with Government Dam Road, which is already on the schedule. River Road was identified as scheduled for chip sealing this year.
Spencer reported approximately 2,500–3,000 yards of material at the Grace Pit that currently contains too much dirt to use. The plan is to obtain a screening plant from Bear Lake County in summer to remove dirt and make the material usable. The minutes indicate the department will measure several road segments to scope chip-seal and crack-seal needs and return with cost estimates.
The commissioners asked staff to measure the roads identified and return with vendor pricing and estimated costs before formal approval of major contracts or chip-seal work.
The board recorded a follow-up direction to have Spencer report vendor pricing and measurements at a future meeting.
