Road supervisor: Davisville Bridge arriving Feb. 10; Dike Road rebuild planned for July

Road and Bridge Supervisor Kim Spencer told the board Feb. 9 that the Davisville Bridge would arrive in Salt Lake City on Feb. 10 and that county crews plan to install it within three days to a week after delivery. Spencer said the county received a $17,000 estimate for cement work on both sides of the bridge and that the bridge will be set on cattle-guard rails and cement blocks; temporary vehicle access arrangements were described for two homes across the bridge.
Spencer also reviewed several road-repair plans for the county. She said Ten Mile Pass Road between Chesterfield and Coffman Road needs base repairs and recommended using new cinders to rebuild the base. For the Dike Road the board discussed rebuilding the base by placing cinders over the ripped-up old surface, then adding gravel and mag chloride; once settled, an oil (chip) top would be considered. Spencer said the work is planned to start July 6 and that the road will be closed for the duration of repairs.
Commissioners discussed salvage of the old bridge; Pat Lozier had asked to obtain the old bridge for reuse. No formal vote was recorded on the bridge delivery schedule or the Dike Road plan during the meeting.
