Perquimans County commissioners approve personnel changes, hold closed session with no action

The Perquimans County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a package of personnel actions at a special meeting Dec. 15, 2025, and later met in closed session that produced no further action.
Chairman Wallace E. Nelson called the meeting to order at the Perquimans County Library. Vice Chairman Charles Woodard gave the invocation and Nelson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioner James W. Ward moved to approve the meeting agenda; Commissioner Kathryn M. Treiber seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board then voted to approve the personnel matters presented. Commissioner James W. Ward made the motion to approve the list of personnel actions; Commissioner Kathryn M. Treiber seconded and the board approved the motion unanimously.
The personnel actions approved by the board included: the termination of Certified Deputy William Wright, effective Dec. 8, 2025; the termination of Social Worker III Stephanie Spence, effective Dec. 9, 2025; the resignation of full-time Paramedic II Miranda Neiswander, effective Nov. 30, 2025, followed by approval to hire Neiswander as a part-time Paramedic II (grade 69/step 6) at $25.72 per hour effective Dec. 1, 2025; the resignation of full-time Telecommunicator Camry Harris, effective Dec. 31, 2025, and approval to hire Harris as a part-time Telecommunicator I (grade 64/step 3) at $25.72 per hour effective Jan. 1, 2026; the resignation of part-time Telecommunicator Tyanna Green, effective Dec. 1, 2025; the resignation of Income Maintenance Caseworker II Jada Lister, effective Nov. 28, 2025; and step increases for Income Maintenance staff Lisa Wolfrum to grade 63/step 1 with a salary listed as $37,264.00 and for Pamela Lacy to grade 59/step 4 at $32,809.00, both effective Dec. 1, 2025.
The board then went into closed session "pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(6)" to discuss attorney-client privileged matters, personnel matters and to review closed-session minutes. The motion to enter closed session was made by Vice Chairman Charles Woodard and seconded by Commissioner Joseph W. Hoffler and was approved unanimously. After the closed session the board reconvened; Chairman Nelson said there was no action to be taken from the closed session.
With no further business, the board adjourned at 8:28 p.m. on a motion by Vice Chairman Woodard, seconded by Commissioner Ward, approved unanimously.
Records in the meeting packet list the personnel items and the effective dates; the board did not provide additional comment on the personnel decisions during the public portion of the meeting.
