Road foreman reports wet conditions, equipment repairs and upcoming gravel bids

In Highway Superintendent Theis’s absence at the June 18 Polk County Board meeting, Road Department Foreman Ericson updated commissioners on ongoing operations and equipment status.
Ericson said several culverts need to be cleared of dirt and debris but that ground conditions remain too wet to proceed safely. He reported a county semi was in York for repairs and that the transmission has been replaced on one Caterpillar motor grader. Ericson noted that gravel bids have been solicited and will be opened at next week’s board meeting.
