The Wenatchee City Council voted to approve an interlocal agreement with the Chelan County District Court to provide municipal court and probation services for a four-year term, with rates to take effect in 2027 and be incorporated into the city's 2027 budget.
Finance Director presented the contract terms and noted rate increases reflect four years without adjustment. The mayor said the agreement reflects collaboration and good-faith negotiations with county partners; Presiding District Court Judge John Volen thanked the city and mayor for the longstanding relationship and said unified local-county court collaboration benefits residents.
Council moved and seconded the motion and approved the agreement during the action-items portion of the meeting. The council also noted unresolved disputes with the county concerning a regional jail contract, which the mayor said remain under negotiation but separate from the court services agreement.
The agreement will be effective for the 2027 budget year if the council’s approval is finalized and signed by the mayor.
