Gail Holloway said most households in her Gold Nugget Road neighborhood signed a petition describing several near-misses at a double blind curve. She said the volume of traffic increased after a new Highway 50 off-ramp and suggested possible remedies including a more-visible flashing “blind curve” sign, motion-sensor-activated warnings at the stop, or converting the intersection to a three-way stop. Holloway said she is not an engineer and asked the council to direct city engineering to evaluate the location and report back to the neighborhood.
Council staff asked Holloway to provide contact information with the petition so staff could follow up. No formal staff directive or vote occurred during the public-comment period; the transcript records the request for contact information and the petitioner’s offer to leave her name and phone number.
At a later public-comment block, another resident asked the council to include her short stretch of Country Club Drive in a pending repaving project. Council did not take immediate action on either request during the meeting, but staff contact information was requested to enable follow-up.
