Broken Bow delays decision on Industrial Tower West cell tower permit after site concerns

The City of Broken Bow City Council opened a public hearing on July 9 regarding a conditional use permit for Industrial Tower West to construct a cell tower at 44100 Memorial Drive. Zoning Administrator Jacob Holcomb reported the Planning Commission had recommended approval. Several council members who visited the site raised potential issues related to easement access, setback compliance and details in the engineering drawings submitted by the applicant.
Mayor Rod Sonnichsen advised the council to postpone action until additional information could be obtained from Industrial Tower West and related parties. After reopening and then closing the hearing, the council voted to postpone action on the conditional use permit until the Aug. 13, 2024 council meeting to allow staff and the applicant to address the outstanding easement, setback and drawing questions.
No vote on the permit’s merits was taken at the July 9 meeting; the postponement preserves the Planning Commission recommendation pending additional review and information.
