The Lakeville Library Board of Trustees voted May 6 to engage EPB of Rhode Island to redesign the library’s website.
Trustees reviewed three proposals — GoDaddy (current host), Renaissance Web Solutions, and EPB — and discussed price, staff time for maintenance, hosting and the new state-mandated ADA requirements for municipal websites. After discussion a trustee moved to approve EPB for the redesign; the motion carried by voice vote. The board directed Library Director Jennifer Jones to contact the vendor and coordinate contract sign-off with town staff.
Board members said the decision balanced cost and staff time. Trustees outlined comparative figures discussed during the meeting: Renaissance quoted a one-time design fee in the mid-five-thousands with monthly hosting and optional maintenance (which includes annual ADA checks), while EPB’s package was presented as a lower up-front cost with approximately $60 a month in hosting and a separate ADA-monitoring option (quoted separately). The library will continue to maintain its domain registration with GoDaddy.
Trustees noted the statewide ADA compliance deadline of April 2028 and discussed coordinating with the Town of Lakeville IT department or a town-wide vendor to reduce duplication of effort. Director Jennifer Jones said she would seek a firm timeline from EPB; trustees indicated they expect the work to proceed this summer, subject to contract review and town sign-off.
What happens next: Jennifer Jones will follow up with EPB to confirm scope and timeline and will route any contract to the town official who signs municipal contracts. Funding was described as likely to come from state aid or library-designated funds; trustees noted staff time and ADA monitoring costs when comparing proposals.
