Gosper County board renews culvert contract, audits payrolls and approves tax corrections

The Gosper County Board of Commissioners on May 27 renewed a one-year contract for culvert pipe supply with Ace/Eaton Metals of Kearney and completed routine fiscal business, including auditing payrolls and approving three tax list corrections as the Board of Equalization.

Chairperson Terry Lerdall moved to renew the Riveted Pipe and Spi-Rol Pipe culvert contract for one year, from May 28, 2026, to May 28, 2027; Member Glenn Hofman seconded the motion, which passed on a roll call vote with Lerdall and Hofman voting aye and Bruce Bader recorded absent. Tom Bokenkamp of Ace/Eaton Metals was present at the meeting when the contract renewal was approved.

The board audited and approved payrolls and claims for the General Fund, Road Fund, Highway Bridge Buyback Fund, Keno/Lottery Fund and Treasurer’s miscellaneous receipts. The minutes list specific payroll and vendor entries, including a May General Fund payroll subtotal of $58,334.59 and a Road Fund payroll subtotal of $40,521.88 for the record.

After completing fiscal approval, the board convened as the Board of Equalization. Assessor Pam Bogle and Deputy Assessor Nicole Atterberry submitted three tax list corrections, numbered #1052, #1053 and #1054. By motion of Lerdall, seconded by Hofman, the board approved all three corrections by roll call (Lerdall and Hofman aye; Bader absent).

The board also carried earlier routine business by motion, including excusing Member Bruce Bader from the meeting and approving the minutes of the May 13, 2026 session. No additional debate or public testimony on the listed fiscal items was noted in the minutes.

The board adjourned at 11:00 a.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 10, 2026, at the Gosper County Courthouse in Elwood; the board also plans to convene June 30, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to audit claims.
