Representatives from the West Georgia Child Advocacy Center addressed the board during the discussion of Child Abuse Awareness Month. The representatives described services the center provides, including forensic interviews, multidisciplinary coordination and trauma‑informed care, and noted a recent establishment of a satellite location in Heard County and a significant increase in caseloads. Commissioner Iris Harris moved to approve the proclamation recognizing Child Abuse Awareness Month; Commissioner Larry Hammond seconded and the board voted unanimously to adopt the proclamation.
The minutes record appreciation from commissioners for the advocacy center’s work. The record does not provide the names of the center’s speakers, financial details of the satellite operation, or specific caseload numbers.
