Heard County commissioners authorize sale, auction and parcel recombination of county properties

At its April 21 meeting the Heard County Board of Commissioners approved multiple actions related to county property. The board voted unanimously to sell 1.20 acres on West Ferry Road by sealed bid, to authorize advertising the parcel at Highway 34 and Alder Road for auction, and to commission a recombination survey to merge Lot 369 with the Heard County Public Library property on Main Street.
Commissioner James Perry moved to authorize the sale of the West Ferry Road parcel; Commissioner Larry Hammond seconded. The Highway 34 and Alder Road parcel was authorized for auction after a motion by Perry and a second by Commissioner Iris Harris. The recombination survey for the library parcel was approved on a motion by Commissioner David Walls with a second from Commissioner Curtis Mock. All motions were recorded as unanimous.
Separately, the board addressed a parcel on Star Point Road associated with Glenloch Baptist Church where county tax records listed the county as the owner despite title indicating church ownership; on a motion by Commissioner James Perry and a second by Commissioner David Walls the board authorized the Tax Assessor and Tax Commissioner to correct records to reflect ownership by Glenloch Baptist Church.
