The Muncie City Board of Public Works and Safety on May 27 approved an annual flex-space request allowing The Huratt to use two parking spaces as an extended outdoor patio, and also approved the claims register totaling $284,265.95.
Dawn Bramfluehler, who identified herself as representing The Huratt, told the board the group was requesting the same two parking spaces that have been approved in prior years: "We request, like, years past 2 parking spaces to extend a patio space." The board moved and seconded approval and voted by voice to grant the request.
Board member Allen Wiesen moved approval of both the May 20 meeting minutes and the claims. Staff reported a significant set of expenses for the week, describing it as a "big utility week," and said most of the costs were for utilities and health care. A staff member, Craig, summarized the recent expenditures, noting that "most of the expenses this week were the utilities and health care" and that there were payouts to support construction work at two park restroom rebuilds. The board approved the claims, which totaled $284,265.95.
A demolition contract was listed under new business but no documents or discussion about the contract were presented during the meeting.
