The Lopatcong Township Council on July 3 took several formal actions during its regular meeting:
• Clerk salary increase and executive-session authorizations: Following an executive-session report, the council moved to increase the municipal clerk’s salary by $10,000 to reflect additional duties; that motion was seconded and approved by roll call. The council also authorized settlement of a CICF tax appeal on terms discussed in executive session and approved related motions in open session.
• Ordinance 24-11 adopted: The council held a public hearing and adopted Ordinance 24-11, a bond ordinance appropriating $932,500 for various capital improvements and authorizing up to $807,975 in bonds and notes.
• Ordinance 24-13 adopted: Council adopted an amendment to township stormwater management code to align with amendments to state stormwater rules (NJAC 7-8 adopted 07/17/2023) after a public hearing with no public comment.
• First readings: The council introduced Ordinance 24-14 (amendments related to vehicle weight restrictions on county streets), Ordinance 24-15 (tenant notice and property-management company requirements) and Ordinance 24-16 (establishing an anti-nepotism personnel policy); all received motion/second for first reading as required.
• Consent agenda and departmental approvals: The consent agenda (items 1–3) passed by roll call. The township engineer reported a DOT local-aid grant application filed for Strykers Road Improvements Phase 1; the fire chief reported a small improvement in ISO classification that may affect insurance premiums; EMS reported call-volume data.
Votes were recorded by roll call during the meeting; motions that required roll-call approval were presented, seconded and recorded as approved in each instance where noted on the record.
