The Thompson Recreation Commission voted to submit a letter nominating 13 candidates for hire at the 2026 Thompson Venture Camp and will send the list to the Board of Selectmen for final approval. Cynthia Antos presented the nomination letter and identified Nathan as camp coordinator and Josh Mayer as assistant coordinator.
Antos said the commission prepared an alphabetical list of candidates and that most nominees are returning staff or previously employed at rec programs. "This is a letter that I'm hoping to submit to the Board of Selectmen," Antos said, introducing the nomination list and asking for approval to forward it.
A committee member moved to submit the list to the Board of Selectmen and another committee member seconded. The commission approved the submission by voice vote. Antos noted that Josh Mayer is being encouraged to obtain lifeguard certification so he can serve in dual roles; she said if Mayer cannot obtain certification the commission may need to hire a lifeguard separately.
The action sends the 13-nominee list to the Board of Selectmen for hiring authorization; the commission did not itself complete hires or set start dates. Next procedural steps described at the meeting are forwarding the letter to the Board of Selectmen and resolving any certification contingencies for lifeguard coverage.
