Superintendent urges reading court filings after NewsChannel 10 story, highlights student accomplishments

He also acknowledged concern about student welfare during the discussion, asking rhetorically, "Was anybody okay with a young lady, a student in our school, being hurt and abused?" and answering, "No." Brown framed that as part of the wider context and emphasized that the district's filings include its response to allegations.
The superintendent recognized a range of student accomplishments: Summer Brillhart placed fourth in discus with a personal record of 121 feet, 7 inches; Jacob Erickson set a new school record in the 3,200 meter with a time of 9:15.99 and earned state silver medals; and several students and teams were listed for welding and FFA state competitions and scholarships.
Brown also announced two staff resignations: Karen Garnett, educational diagnostician, and Nicole Trinkle, a second-grade teacher at Rife Elementary.
The superintendent asked the public to consult official filings and his interview recording for fuller context rather than relying solely on the local broadcast report. No formal board action on the litigation was recorded in the open session portion of the transcript.
