Kids’ Fishing Derby to move to Metzger Farm east pond; volunteer pole assembly planned April 8
Summary
Staff said the annual Kids’ Fishing Derby for ages 6–11 will move from Tom Frost to Metzger Farm Open Space east pond because Tom Frost has low water and an upcoming pipeline repair; volunteers will assemble fishing poles on April 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ahead of the May event.

Chloe Chalekian, Open Space and Trails Specialist, briefed OSTAC that this year’s Kids’ Fishing Derby (for children ages 6–11) will be held at the east pond at Metzger Farm Open Space instead of Tom Frost.
Chloe said the change was necessary because Tom Frost has low water levels this year and a planned Public Works pipeline repair. Staff and volunteers from Colorado Parks and Wildlife will provide instructional tables and poles for participants. A volunteer pole-assembly event is scheduled for April 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ahead of the May derby.
Michael McLane asked whether fishing would occur around the entire lake; Chloe said the event will be limited to the northern bank near the farmhouse. No formal action or funding changes were made at the Feb. 26 meeting.
