Committee: ARPA-funded sidewalks to start this summer; no-littering signs ordered; High Street emergency gate found closed
Summary
The Roadway Traffic Study Committee recorded that ARPA funding will support sidewalk design/construction on Cedar and High streets starting this summer (costs pending), that 20 no-littering signs have been ordered for town-controlled locations, and that the emergency traffic gate at High Street bridge was observed closed and locked on March 24, 2026.
Committee member Doug Small reported that design and construction for sidewalks on Cedar Street and High Street will use ARPA funds and are expected to start in the summer once final cost estimates are complete; Water Street sidewalks were noted as a possible addition.
Kevin Langmeyer said the town ordered 20 'No Littering' signs through a Green Up/Ashland coordination effort and will place them when they arrive. He reiterated that Pond Street remains under state control and the town will not place signs there.
Chief Robie and Chair Joseph J. Magnani reported that the emergency traffic gate at the High Street bridge was closed and locked as of March 24, 2026. The committee recorded these updates and agreed on a regular monthly meeting schedule (first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m., Public Safety Building training room). Motion to adjourn was made by Dona Walsh, seconded by Michael Duca; the meeting ended at 12:05 p.m.
