Richland County commissioners approve routine purchases, personnel actions and Shelby CHIP partnership

At their May 26 meeting, Richland County commissioners unanimously approved routine motions including the purchase of a $62,876 Ford F-350 for the engineer’s office, a $16,808.16 grit conveyor for the wastewater plant, personnel postings and a CHIP partnership with the City of Shelby.
Commissioner Cliff Meares opened the Richland County Board of Commissioners’ meeting at 9:30 a.m. and moved through a series of routine agenda items that the board approved by roll call before adjourning at 9:34 a.m.
The board certified the record of proceedings for May 21 and approved requisitions, month-end appropriations and transfers. Commissioners also approved a CHIP (Community Housing Impact and Preservation) partnership agreement with the City of Shelby.
The board authorized the Department of Job and Family Services to post internally and externally for the Training Officer 1 position (vacant since 2024) and approved hiring an additional part-time kennel position. The board accepted the retirement notice of Jody Ballard, identified in the meeting as a part-time assistant maintenance technician at the wastewater treatment plant, and approved a resignation submitted by an employee of Dayspring.
Commissioner Meares said Amanda Miller at the wastewater treatment plant requested a new grit conveyor priced at $16,808.16; the commissioners moved to approve that expenditure. The engineer’s office requested a 2027 Ford F-350 for $62,876 to be paid from the auto license and gas tax budget; that purchase was also approved.
Andrew Keller was authorized to attend the County Commissioners Association of Ohio (CCAO) Central District quarterly meeting on May 29, per a motion the board approved. Chair Meares invited questions from online attendees; Carl Honnold of Richland Source responded that he had no questions.
All motions noted on the published agenda were moved, seconded and approved by roll call during the brief meeting. The chair announced the meeting approved and adjourned at 9:34 a.m.
