Eastchester authorizes $2.86M in capital projects and issues bonds for roads, garage, vehicles and parks

The Eastchester Town Board on a unanimous roll call approved a slate of 2026 capital projects totaling $2,860,000 and separately authorized a series of bond issuances to finance several of those projects.
Supervisor Colavita outlined the town-wide capital list: the remainder of Leeward Park renovations ($240,000), townwide fence and mulch work ($50,000), a commercial dishwasher for the senior center ($25,000), new highway equipment including a dump truck and pickup (combined $520,000), a highway garage expansion ($425,000, half funded by bonding and half from the highway fund balance), $1,100,000 for street resurfacing, and $500,000 for sidewalk and curb replacement. Colavita told the board the total for the town-wide projects is $2,860,000 and noted “we've had a lot of potholes” after a rough winter that increased resurfacing needs.
Separately the board approved bond resolutions by roll call vote to fund several projects: $1,100,000 for street resurfacing; $425,000 for the highway garage expansion; $520,000 for acquisition of highway vehicles; $500,000 for sidewalk and curb reconstruction; $315,000 for recreation and park improvements; and $75,000 for Lake Isle Country Club renovations. Each resolution was moved, seconded and carried unanimously.
The board also approved motions to put the 2026 sidewalk and street resurfacing projects out to bid and authorized preconstruction environmental design services for asbestos abatement of the highway incinerator building (a lump-sum design effort later noted at $8,500). The board approved an intergovernmental agreement (agreement 25934F) to remove snow and ice from county roads, with first-year compensation of $18,732.42 through Sept. 30, 2029.
The measures were approved by roll call; all members present voted in favor. Next steps include bidding the projects and completing design and procurement work prior to construction.
