After returning to open session, the council approved a settlement agreement tied to a vehicle accident involving a city employee. The motion to approve the settlement was made by Councilman Bill Sheckles, seconded by Councilman Roland E. Williams, and passed 6-0.
The council approved Change Order No. 3 for the Mayor’s Park project. Councilman David Dones said the change order adds $5,202.00 for stone work, deducts $43,935.23 for building products and extends the final completion date to June 28, 2024. The motion, seconded by Councilman Joe Buckman, passed unanimously.
On a recommendation from City Engineer Jessica Filiatreau, the council awarded the advanced metering startup package to Ferguson Waterworks for $747,500. Councilman Franklin Hibbs IV moved the award, Councilman David Dones seconded, and the motion carried 6-0.
The council approved a $4,000 community development grant for NelCare. Councilman Hibbs moved the grant; Councilman Roland E. Williams seconded. The motion carried 5-0 with Councilwoman Betty Hart recorded as abstaining.
Council members also approved multiple fireworks permit applications by unanimous consent and granted the mobile food vendor application for Southern Style Mini Donuts after a motion from Councilman David Dones. The cemetery deed for Carrie Johnson was approved by unanimous consent.
The meeting concluded with Mayor Heaton noting National Bourbon Week (June 11–16) and the opening of the new Entertainment District on June 14. Councilman Franklin Hibbs IV moved to adjourn at 7:33 PM; Councilman Joe Buckman seconded and the motion carried 6-0.
The council recorded no contested votes at the meeting; items requiring a second reading (including budget and zoning-related ordinances) were presented for first reading or scheduled for later consideration.
