Batavia council accepts up to $12 million state grant for wastewater plant upgrades

Councilmember Twichell moved to accept the award from the Environmental Facilities Corporation for Clean Water State Revolving Fund Project No. C8-6502-05-00; Councilmember Schmidt seconded the motion and the council approved it 9-0. The council authorized the Council President and/or the City Manager to execute a Project Finance Agreement and any related documents required by EFC.
According to the resolution, the $12,000,000 figure is a not-to‑exceed amount; the actual grant awarded will be determined by the Environmental Facilities Corporation upon completion of the project and confirmation of final eligible costs. The resolution requires the city to comply with applicable federal, state and program requirements as a condition of accepting the funds.
City officials described the award as supporting upgrades intended to protect public health, maintain environmental quality and ensure regulatory compliance at the wastewater treatment plant.
