Liberty County elections board approves $71,980 in budget increases for FY2026-27

The Liberty County Board of Elections voted unanimously March 30 to forward proposed FY2026-27 budget increases totaling $71,980 to the Board of Commissioners.
Supervisor Ronda Walthour presented the requested adjustments across five categories: Technical Services (+$15,000) for additional software, upgrades and an extra technician; Repairs and Maintenance (Precinct Upgrades) (+$5,000) for ADA and facility work; combined Advertising, Printing and Binding (+$9,500) to meet rising service costs and volume needs; Travel, Dues and Fees (+$5,000) for association dues and professional participation; and Meeting Materials and Training (+$2,000).
Greg MacDougal moved to approve the budget package for presentation to the Board of Commissioners. Vice-Chair Stephanie Woods seconded and the motion passed by unanimous vote of the seven members present.
Chair John McIver also noted pending legislation and other external items that could influence final budgeting should additional equipment or processes be required.
