The Great Falls City Commission adopted Resolution of Intent 10617 on March 17 and scheduled a public hearing for April 21, 2026, to consider vacating a portion of 10th Alley South as part of a proposed Chick‑fil‑A redevelopment at 721 10th Avenue South, Planning and Community Development Director Brock Cherry said.
Cherry explained that the vacation would help create a single development parcel and improve circulation and parking for the redevelopment; the proposal explicitly excludes alley portions adjacent to existing residences and would retain utility, sewer and public access easements. Written opposition from resident Randy Knowles was received, expressing concern about conversion of 9th Avenue South into a business district.
Commissioner Joe McKenney moved to adopt the resolution of intent, Commissioner Shannon Wilson seconded, and the motion passed 5-0. The item will return for public hearing on April 21.
