AVID leaders highlight college acceptances and scholarships for Santa Paula students

Presenters highlighted scholarship winners and finalists, including Gates and QuestBridge recognitions, and described ongoing efforts to recruit former AVID students as college tutors.
Trustees asked about alumni follow-up and how tutors are recruited; presenters said they use applications and outreach to recent graduates at local campuses to hire AVID college tutors and use a Remind app to maintain contact with seniors after graduation. Presenters also described acceptance-rate data across UC and CSU campuses and the program’s focus on financial aid literacy and scholarship navigation.
Trustees thanked AVID staff and volunteers for the program’s results; no board action was required. The presentation affirmed AVID’s role in college access and described steps to expand scholarship partnerships and maintain tutor recruitment.
