During public comment, resident Marco Martinez (215 North Reagan) described specific field maintenance needs at Cheever Park, recommending roughly one yard of screening material for the infield and additional material where an outfield ditch runs behind first and second base. Martinez also noted updated vendor billing information and suggested a possible storage location down the first baseline to avoid maintenance access points.
Board members and park staff discussed storage options for equipment and concessions at Cheever Park, recalling previous purchases of storage containers and noting constraints caused by fence gates and maintenance vehicle access. No formal decision on a permanent storage unit was adopted; the board said staff and volunteers will continue to coordinate logistics and bring proposed solutions back to the board once bids or options are assembled.
The board also noted that the town board has assumed primary responsibility for the bike-trail project this year and that the park board will support the effort as needed. The Cheever Park master plan review will continue, the chair said.
