Prospect Heights approves $19,500 redevelopment advisory contract, vehicle purchase and warrants

The Prospect Heights City Council on Oct. 27 approved several routine but consequential items including a small contract to study redevelopment options, a vehicle purchase for the building department and the night’s warrants.

Peter presented R 25-71, a resolution to hire SB Friedman for redevelopment advisory services to provide market forecasting, potential tax-increment financing analyses and redevelopment options. "This resolution will approve agreement between the city and SB Friedman for development advisory services," Peter said, and described it as "the first step" for evaluating redevelopment. The contract is structured as an hourly agreement with a spending cap of $19,500. The council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by roll call (ayes recorded for Aldermen Dolich, Cameron, Morgan Adams and Anderson).

Council also approved R 25-72, authorizing purchase of a 2026 Dodge Durango for the building and zoning department from Sunnyside Jeep under state bidding, at an estimated cost of $38,861 and not to exceed $41,500. Dan told council the purchase comes in under the $45,000 budgeted figure and that outfitting (signage, lighting) will add "a few thousand dollars." Staff said the vehicle could arrive within six weeks.

The council approved the warrant list totaling $481,516.47, which included line items such as an IMRF payment and payments to law-enforcement training and other routine vendors.

All votes on these items were recorded by roll call; council approved the motions on the consent agenda, the SB Friedman agreement and the vehicle purchase during the Oct. 27 meeting.
