During public comment at the Schuylkill Valley School Board meeting, Naomi Wood, parent of a 2024 graduate, asked the board to ensure an appropriate post‑secondary transition program for her son, CJ, saying promised services "never came to fruition." Wood told trustees the district must provide staff, paraprofessionals and job‑coaching supports so her son can trial supported employment and day programs before leaving the district. "The district has not provided TJ with an appropriate transition program during his 2024 and 2025 school year nor his current 2026 school year," Wood said, asking the board to approve necessary funds and services when they are brought forward.
After public comment and routine reports, the board handled a series of consent and action items. Trustees approved Kristen Wells as treasurer to the Board of School Directors for the 2026–27 school year (motion carries 9–0). The board combined and approved employment items on the agenda (6.3–6.13), covering resignations, custodial appointments and volunteer lists (vote 9–0). The board also approved contract renewals for benefits and substitute nursing services, and a Frasier lease and service agreement for district photocopiers presented for a term beginning 07/01/2026 and extending through 06/30/2031.
Board members asked procedural questions about contract costs and whether details were included in executive‑session committee materials; staff said many items had been reviewed in committee. The meeting concluded with approval of several ESY and partner contracts and the chair thanking attendees.
No formal board response to Naomi Wood’s request was recorded beyond the chair inviting follow‑up and noting staff contact options; the board set a June 8 special meeting to adopt the final 2026–27 budget, where additional service funding requests could be brought forward.
