Cumru approves $121,327 change order to repair fire-station sidewalks, paving and ADA entrances

Jeff Skinner of Atlas, the site/civil engineer for the fire station project, presented Change Order No. 2 to the board. The order adds pavement replacement and sidewalk/entrance repairs to bring administration building access up to ADA standards and addresses crumbling pavement in the adjacent drive and parking areas. Skinner told the board the change order line item is $121,327.14 and that additional work will be funded by allowances and savings elsewhere in the fire-station contracts.
Skinner said the paving portion may be delayed by winter temperatures and plant shutdowns; staff and the contractor will coordinate to do wearing-course/top-coat work when conditions permit. Township administration confirmed funds are available from bond proceeds and allowances so the change order does not require money beyond the bond pool.
A commissioner moved to approve the change order as submitted; the board voted in favor. Staff said some of the paving and the lower-level handicap ramp work has already started and that additional work could occur in the current calendar year if weather cooperates, otherwise the finish course will be applied in spring.
The board asked technical questions about scope and schedule, and Atlas staff remained available to answer contractor questions. No opposition or abstentions were recorded during the vote.
The board did not identify additional funding sources beyond the bond allowances authorized for the project and directed staff to proceed with the contract change order and scheduling coordination.
