It includes sections on architectural heritage and styles, rehabilitation guidance based on the Secretary of the Interior standards, a maintenance checklist, accessibility considerations, demolition‑by‑neglect guidance for code enforcement, and resources for deeper research. "We're looking for citizens to provide input... no later than June 14," the presenter said.
Council asked about ADA exemptions and geographic coverage. The presenter said ADA tradeoffs typically require coordination with the local building official and that while ordinance changes will be proposed by Community Development, the guidelines can be used citywide by property owners outside historic districts as a resource. Staff said they will return later with an ordinance that codifies relevant provisions.
Next steps: residents and stakeholders may submit comments by June 14; staff will incorporate feedback, finalize graphic design for the grant submission, and return with a proposed ordinance and final document later in the summer or early fall.
