Longtime municipal court clerk to retire; council appoints and swears in successor

The Giddings City Council accepted the resignation and retirement of Municipal Court Clerk Raquel Grube, effective Jan. 31, 2026, and appointed Kristy Lara as the new Municipal Court Clerk.
Interim City Manager Heather Garner praised Grube's long service to the city since 1992 and her role preparing the court's next generation of clerks. Council approved the resignation acceptance and then adopted Resolution No. 614 appointing Kristy Lara; the measures carried unanimously (Ayes: Casey, Pruitt, Janda, Rinn).
The minutes record that Municipal Court Clerk Raquel Grube (also spelled "Rachel" in a later line) administered the oath of office and the anti-bribery oath to Kristy Lara. The council recorded no further action.
Staff noted the name spelling inconsistency in the minutes; the personnel actions recorded are the resignation of Grube and the appointment and oath of Kristy Lara.
