Contract operator reports July spike in H2S during heavy rain; lift-station flows rose
Summary
MCO reported no alarm calls for July, completed required sewer televising for the Consent Order, recorded a storm-related H2S spike to 57.4 ppm, and logged July lift-station flow of 2,358,180 gallons with detailed pump hours and biocide station status.
MCO Midwest Contract Operations submitted its July operations report to the Simonton Lake Conservancy District on Aug. 14 and provided the board with key monitoring and treatment data.
MCO reported there were no alarm calls from Omni-Site for the month. The city completed cleaning the final section of sewer line and Bob Frame Plumbing finished the televising required under a Consent Order; video files were supplied to MCO.
MCO recorded 47,515 readings from an H2S data logger with an average of 0.00563 parts per million (ppm), a minimum of 0 ppm and a maximum of 2.4 ppm for that logger. A logger placed in the city manhole the district discharges to (in service June 24–July 26) showed a higher average of 0.2429 ppm and a maximum reading of 57.4 ppm during heavy rain on June 25.
Treatment stations using Bioxide were operating as reported: average pumping rates for July were about 12.6 gallons per day at the South (CR109) station and 14.5 gallons per day at the North (Northshore) station. Tank levels on July 31 were approximately 500 gallons (South) and 510 gallons (North). A biocide delivery occurred July 9.
MCO also provided a lift-station operational summary: total July flow was 2,358,180 gallons (average 71,460 gallons per day). The report listed pump run hours and a schedule of field checks; MCO logged about 43 hours of field work and approximately 500 miles in July.
The operations data reference the Consent Order requirement for sewer televising; the board received the report for oversight and planning purposes.
