Glennville — The City Council on Jan. 6 approved several procurement actions: a one-year debris pickup contract to local low bidder Johnathan T. Durrence of Durrence Tree Service, an amendment to the Allgreen solid waste contract to increase certain collection rates, and awards of engineering and administrative services RFPs for the 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
Debris pickup: The city accepted the low bid of $50,700 from Johnathan T. Durrence (Durrence Tree Service) and awarded a one-year contract to provide limb removal and debris pickup after the city's dump truck was deemed unrepairable. The motion to award the contract passed unanimously.
Solid waste contract amendment: Sam Sullivan explained that Allgreen requested increases that raise residential and commercial carts by $1.00 and add $0.50 per cubic yard for commercial dumpsters; Sullivan said the rates would be locked until January 2028 and the city would absorb the added cost rather than pass it on to residents. The council approved the amendment.
CDBG services: Parker Engineering received the highest evaluation score for engineering services and was awarded the CDBG engineering contract. Associates in Local Government (ALGA) won the administrative services contract for the FY2026 CDBG; both awards passed by unanimous council votes.
The council did not provide contract documents or a detailed budget amendment in the meeting minutes; departments were expected to complete routine follow-up steps for contract execution and project start-up.
