TMRI Taskforce backs hybrid voting approach, plans Zoom poll trial

The TMRI Taskforce on Nov. 10 gave general approval to a proposal for hybrid voting that would use online polls alongside in-person and phone options.
Sam Graulty presented the online voting plan and the group agreed that poll results will be reported as percentages rather than raw counts to keep online and voice votes equivalent. Taskforce members said a hand count will be required if poll results are ambiguous or a division is called.
The taskforce asked that counters for both online and in-person votes be identified in advance so they can act quickly when a division is called. Sam Graulty will set up a Zoom poll to trial the system at the next meeting and Sam and Angelike Contis will create an explanatory video after the December meeting to show members how Zoom voting will work.
The group also agreed in principle that moderators may publicly cast votes on behalf of phone-only participants as an accommodation, but members said the precise protocols for how moderators will coordinate with phone-only participants during actual votes still need refinement.
Next steps: a Zoom poll trial at the next meeting and development of written protocols for reporting online results and coordinating vote counts between online and in-person participants.
