The Glynn County Island Planning Commission unanimously approved a special‑use permit (SUP‑26‑1) to allow on‑site wine pouring at Wine Body and Soul, located in Redfern Village at 208 Redfern.
Christopher Carey, senior planner, told commissioners the property is zoned Highway Commercial and that a drinking establishment is a special use in that district; staff presented a site map showing nearby residential properties and a 500‑foot buffer. Carey also noted the previous ownership renewed the alcohol license in December but a new special‑use permit is required when ownership changes.
New owner Sharon Otto introduced herself at the public hearing and said she and her husband, Gregory Otto, purchased Wine Body and Soul and plan to continue its operations while possibly offering small community events such as "paint and sips." "It has been there for 15 years, already, and so we're just continuing on the legacy," Otto said.
Commissioners closed the public hearing and moved to approve SUP‑26‑1 as presented; the motion passed unanimously.
