Dan Weaver, presenting the committee's work, said the signs would use etched glass with historical photos and a contemporary view that could be complemented by a slideshow projection across the bottom of each panel. The group proposed three initial locations to tell different parts of downtown’s story: Old Woodward Row, an area pointing toward South Main Street near the clock, and a Northwest Main location near the Broad Street Alley.
The presenters said they had a mock‑up, a graphic designer and a vendor willing to fabricate and install the signs, and that the committee intends to raise funds to cover materials and installation costs. Council members expressed support but asked for additional details before final approval: pricing and material specifications, finalized sign dimensions and precise proposed placement so public works can evaluate underground utilities and impacts on sight lines and pedestrian crossings.
Council asked staff to meet with the presenters and public works to walk the proposed sites and return to council with final locations and cost estimates. The committee said installation would likely occur in spring or summer once final specifications and permits are complete.
