Council approves temporary VFW lease amendment to house senior-center services during renovations

The Uniontown City Council approved Resolution 1878 on May 11 to amend the citys lease with VFW Post 1949, providing the city with temporary exclusive occupancy of the VFW Hall (June 1 through Sept. 30) to maintain senior-center services during renovations.
Parks Director Alina Hibbs told the council the amendment expands prior lease arrangements to ensure continuity of programming while the senior center receives structural upgrades. "We proposed a lease amendment... this amendment will give us four months of temporary exclusive occupancy... we will compensate them a total of $6,800, which will be absorbed into the project budget," Hibbs said. She added that the city will also fund small accessibility improvements at the VFW hall from the project budget so programming remains ADA-comparable.
Corey, speaking for the committee, reported full committee approval and the council passed the resolution by motion and voice vote.
