Collier County approves $8.48 million GMP amendment for courthouse 6th-floor renovations

The Collier County Board of County Commissioners on May 26 approved a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) first amendment to agreement #22-7951 with Christel Construction of Southwest Florida Inc. for construction-manager-at-risk services on the courthouse sixth-floor and jury room renovations in the amount of $8,475,394.
Brian Deloney, the county’s facilities director, told the board the project involves extensive work: “This is not only the jury room, it's 2 courtrooms. We're basically gutting the entire 6th Floor and redoing the entire 6th Floor,” and will include fire alarm and sprinkler upgrades through the building. Commissioners asked for a brief overview and Deloney confirmed much of the work will occur nights and weekends to avoid court session disruption.
Commissioner discussion raised cost magnitude and value; the board moved, seconded and approved the amendment and necessary budget actions on a voice vote.
The facilities division will proceed with contract administration and scheduling under the terms approved by the board.
