Correspondence reviewed included outreach from a consulting firm called Diversity at Workplace seeking to offer services to the town; a request from the Sharon Pride Steering Committee to raise an Intersex Progress Pride flag at Memorial Park Beach on May 31 and to display a flag at Town Offices from May 31 through June 30 in observance of Pride Month; a notice from the Neponset River Watershed Association asking for suggestions on temporary heat-sensor placement to map urban heat islands; an invitation from Be Inclusive in Norwood to add the DEI Committee to a local business network on Alignable; and a notice about the Rotary Club of Sharon's Earth Day community cleanup scheduled for April 18 (with April 25 rain date).
On Autism Awareness Month, committee member Matthew Zinno described autism as a condition with varied manifestations and expressed the importance of continued learning; Robert Soffer and Select Board Liaison Kiana Baskin echoed interest in future discussion on neurodiversity. Kiana Baskin also reminded members of the Sharon Annual Town Meeting on May 4 and the Sharon Town Election on May 19.
Chair Jennifer Illuzzi proposed moving any agenda items not discussed to the May 14 meeting and the group agreed to consider the location for that in-person session.
