Gage County Board of Equalization approves referee-service contracts and tax-roll changes

At its May 27 meeting the Gage County Board of Equalization unanimously approved referee-service agreements with Cardinal Assessment Group and MIPS for the 2026 assessment year, approved tax correction slip #80 and parcel changes under Neb. Rev. Stat. §77-1507, and set the next meeting for June 10, 2026.
Erich Tiemann, chairman of the Gage County Board of Equalization, presided over the meeting on May 27, 2026, which convened at 8:30 a.m. and was publicly noticed in the Beatrice Daily Sun on May 12, 2026; Clerk Dawn Hill stated a copy of the proof of publication is on file in the County Clerk’s Office.
The board unanimously approved the meeting agenda and the minutes of the previous meeting (motions carried 4-0). Supervisors present were Rex Adams, Rick Clabaugh, Erich Tiemann and Eddie Dorn; Emily Haxby, Gary Lytle and Terry Jurgens were absent. County Assessor Patti Milligan was present.
In substantive action, the Board approved tax correction slip #80 by motion of Supervisor Rex Adams, seconded by Supervisor Rick Clabaugh; the motion carried 4-0. The Board also approved parcel changes and corrections to the property tax roll pursuant to Nebraska Revised Statute §77-1507. The record notes a referenced statute on the supporting document was listed as 77-128 but was corrected to 77-1507 during the meeting.
The board authorized two agreements for referee services for the 2026 assessment year. Supervisor Eddie Dorn moved, and Supervisor Rick Clabaugh seconded, to approve an agreement with Cardinal Assessment Group, LLC; that motion carried 4-0. Dorn also moved, and Clabaugh seconded, to approve an agreement with Multi-County Information and Programming Services (MIPS) for referee services for the 2026 assessment year; that motion carried 4-0.
Chairman Tiemann announced that a complete copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted at the back of the Board of Supervisors Room. The meeting record shows no public comments were offered. The Board adjourned at 8:46 a.m. and will reconvene on June 10, 2026. Clerk Dawn Hill certified the record.
