HR Director Diana Snover summarized the recruitment timeline and said council interviewed four finalists at a May 11 workshop. Vice Chair Champagne moved to appoint Dr. Lucius, a motion seconded by Councilor Schwan. During discussion several councilors praised Lucius’s stewardship of the finance team and organizational stability; others noted strong candidates in the pool but said continuity and institutional knowledge weighed in favor of the internal candidate.
Snover and Lucius said next steps would include background screening and coordination with the city attorney on a proposed employment contract. The city attorney said a draft contract will be presented to the council at its June 1 meeting for review.
The council’s 7–0 vote followed a recorded discussion of interview ratings and operational considerations; no members registered public comment on the appointment during the meeting.
