The Lamont Public Utility District board voted to authorize the general manager to negotiate the purchase of land for a well site to support consolidation of Fuller Acres and Athal Water companies. The motion, which gave the manager authority to negotiate up to $70,000 above appraisal value, passed unanimously 5-0.
Director Gonzalez made the motion and Vice‑President Jesus Alonso seconded. Board members asked about the proposed location and the necessity of a new site; staff provided information about consolidation needs but no additional fiscal details were included in the public record at the meeting.
The vote authorizes only negotiation; the board did not approve a final purchase or commit funding beyond the negotiation authority. The general manager, Scott Staylan Taylor, will continue negotiations and report back to the board if and when a purchase agreement is recommended.
