Council accepts Historical Review Board recommendations on fence, tree removal and emergency egress

The Bardstown City Council voted Jan. 14 to accept three recommendations from the Bardstown Historical Review Board involving property modifications in the city.
The HRB recommended approval for COA-24-40, a six-foot dog-eared wooden privacy fence at 327 N. 1st Street (applicant/owner Sean Bassel); the HRB specified that the rear fence would start just in front of the property’s electric meter. The board also recommended approval of COA-24-41, allowing removal of a tree and trimming other trees at 217 W. Flaget (applicant/owner Tommy Shouse) with the requirement that replacements be returned in the spring. Finally, the HRB recommended approval of COA-24-43 to alter a side six-panel window to a double-hung 6-over-6 at 114 E. Stephen Foster to provide an egress/escape route (applicant/owner Ashton Bushong; representative Bill Mattingly).
Councilman Joe Buckman moved to accept the HRB’s recommendations with the board’s stated conditions; Councilman Roland E. Williams seconded and the motion carried 6-0. The minutes record the approvals and the conditions as stated by the HRB; no additional public comment or opposition is recorded in the minutes.
