University of Valley Forge proposes two dugouts for Sanatoga Park baseball field

Representatives from the University of Valley Forge presented Feb. 3 a proposal to build two dugouts at the Sanatoga Park baseball field.
Gretchen LeVan said the university had a positive experience using the field last spring and is proposing a home and away dugout to replace benches currently cemented into the ground. She said the structures will provide separation between teams and fans and protection from the elements and will be painted a neutral color. Athletics Facilities Manager Neil Herman said the dugouts will be wood with tin roofs and that university staff will be on-site to ensure construction meets township specifications.
Manager Edward C. Wagner asked the university to coordinate with Public Works (Shane Hosier) to mark out locations and reminded applicants that the dugouts must be inspected by Codes Officer Joe Groff. Commissioners asked about fencing and Herman said the dugouts would be located behind the existing fencing. No formal vote was taken; the presentation will proceed through the township’s normal permitting and inspection processes.
