Mayor breaks tie to approve adding two part‑time fire lieutenants; ladder‑truck repairs tabled

Butler and Keith Smith; Mark A. Barber and Michael Phelps were absent. Mayor Terry F. Bell cast the deciding vote in favor, and the motion carried.
Mayor Bell also said the ladder truck was in Memphis for evaluation and asked to table ladder‑truck repairs until the next meeting; board members did not take further action on that equipment item at this meeting.
The board approved the staffing addition by majority vote and set ladder‑truck repair discussion for a future meeting.
