County staff asked the commission to support an annual 5311 rural public transportation grant application during the May 26 meeting. The presenter said the application requests $182,438 in federal operating assistance, $202,780 in federal administrative assistance and $12,400 in federal capital assistance.
Staff identified a local match of $261,733, and then subtracted estimated fare revenue ($25,000) and contract revenue ($27,000) to arrive at a projected local match of roughly $209,000. Staff noted reimbursement assumptions used in planning: 50% reimbursement on operating expenses and 80% reimbursement on administrative and capital assistance. The applicant said the grant term begins Oct. 1.
Commissioners had no substantive objections and the commission approved moving forward with the application and associated local funding commitments as presented.
