Cavalier County raises road‑work hourly rates, routes portion to equipment replacement fund

The Cavalier County Board of Commissioners voted April 21 to raise county hourly rates for blading and snow removal to $160 and set the Road Groomer rate at $100 per hour, effective May 1, 2026. Commissioners also directed that $15 of each billed hour for blading and snow removal and $10 of each billed hour for the Road Groomer be transferred to the Road & Bridge Equipment Replacement Fund.
The change followed a comparison of the county’s current rates and rates submitted by contractors for the county bid book. Greg Goodman made the motion to raise the rates and to set the Road Groomer rate; the motions were seconded and recorded as carried. Nick Moser moved—and the board approved—the transfer amounts to the equipment replacement fund.
The minutes note that truck plows will be billed at the same hourly rate. The board did not attach a detailed revenue estimate for the transfer amounts. Implementation will be handled by the Road & Bridge department under the board’s directive.
