Agencies outline summer meal sites, park programs and safety reminders at Bloomington MAC meeting

Local agency representatives used the Bloomington Municipal Advisory Council meeting on June 5 to outline summer services, park programming and public-safety reminders for Bloomington residents.
Israel Fuentes, a Colton Joint Unified School District board member, said schools ended June 3 and will resume Aug. 1 and listed summer meal sites and service times for children under 18 at multiple Colton-area locations including Ruth Grimes Elementary, Mary B. Lewis, Joe Baca Middle, Ruth O. Harris Middle and Bloomington High School. Fuentes provided specific breakfast and lunch service windows for each site as listed on the agenda.
Moises Sanchez, Senior Code Enforcement Officer, gave contact information for complaints (phone: 909-884-4056; email: codeenforcementdivision@lus.sbcountyy.gov) and described recent enforcement activity including an Earth Day cleanup and towing of a van that was blocking sight lines at San Bernardino and Cedar Avenue. Sanchez said the office operates an illegal-dumping program and listed office hours and the physical filing address in San Bernardino.
Fire Captain Jett Shuster said Medic Engine 76 responds to roughly 600 calls in the area, noted recent structure and rail-car fires, and urged residents to watch children playing in water, not leave children unattended in cars and stay hydrated during increased heat. Shuster said Station 76’s fence program and security lighting work should be completed by June 6, 2024.
Aaron Speer, representing Special Districts, said Kessler Park is now lockable and has Wi‑Fi, noted adjusted park hours (6 a.m.–10 p.m.), reported continued senior nutrition at Ayala Park with average attendance of 75–80, and outlined upcoming programs including youth sports camps, a Movie in the Park series starting in July, a concert at Ayala Park on Aug. 16 and National Night Out on Aug. 6.
Sergeant Ruiz of the Sheriff’s Department summarized recent arrests related to a March 12 residential robbery and related charges, a June 2 robbery with an identified and arrested suspect, and a June 3 sexual-assault arrest; the transcript does not include full incident reports.
